Supporting smallholder irrigation through finance and technical assistance could significantly improve productivity and incomes. Water and pumps international is here to support you with technical assistance. Sun-powered pumps installed in remote villages provide a cost-effective way of delivering irrigation water, particularly during the long dry season.

Solar-powered drip irrigation systems break seasonal rainfall dependence, which typically limits farmers to a three- to six-month growing season, and support the production of diversified, high-value crops in rural Africa,”

The photovoltaic irrigation drip system could potentially become a ‘game changer’ for agricultural development over time. Solar-powered irrigation provides a cleaner source of energy that is less susceptible to global price fluctuations.

The Grundfos SQflex (Sun-powered pump) is a fantastic pump with an integrated electrical drive that allows the use of AC or power from 30V to 300V. This is a positive displacement pump that can pump water at low sunlight level and is by far our best selling pump.

How does it work?

Grundfos SQFlex 2.5-2 Submersible Pump Motor, for horizontal and vertical mounting, MSF3 1 x 90-240V, 50/60 Hz, 2m motor cable with integrated MPP-tracking.

The SQFlex family is an environmentally-friendly water supply system. SQFlex pumps are fitted with a permanent magnet motor which enables the efficient use of energy from a wide range of supply options. The pump system offers the perfect water supply solution in remote areas where water is scarce and the power supply is non-existent or unreliable.

Installing the SQFlex Solar requires no special tools as the solar modules plug straight into the system. The SQFlex Solar can be run economically and remains virtually maintenance-free.

Features:

  • Dry-running protection.
  • High efficiency permanent-magnet motor (PMmotr).
  • Over- and under voltage protection.
  • Overload protection.
  • Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT).
  • Wide voltage range.

Water Level Sensor is used only when the water is pumped to overhead tank. The overhead tank in turn supports the drip line system by supplying water using gravity to the irrigation system
