Successful agriculture depends on farmers having sufficient access to water.  In the middle of the last century, the common perception was that water was an infinite resource. Today, we know that water is a resource that must be managed. The agricultural market is changing rapidly, and farmers cannot rely on the technology and practices of the past.

Flexible set irrigation systems consist of portable, above ground fabricated pipe with sprinklers heads spaced at specific intervals along the pipe. Permanent set systems consist of buried pipes (usually PVC/ HDPE plastic) with evenly spaced sprinklers mounted on risers. These systems are typically used on small acreages and/ or crops that have a high cash value such as vegetables. Permanent set systems are also frequently used as under-tree sprinkler systems on matooke, passion fruits, maize .etc.. and as overhead systems.

This week we installed a Mechanized sprinkler system effective for covering 20 acres of proposed passion fruit farm in Luwero (Kakooge) at Madam Aida’s farm. This system basically involves typically pipes attached to a pump that can supply the necessary amount of water, pressure and significantly more, as a precaution. Valves handle the excess flow and pressure.

At water and pumps international, we have a team of expert engineers that design, supply and install irrigation systems for both small scale and large scale farmers. For more information contact us on; 0705136567 or +256-392177202 or send us an email   sales@waterandpumps.com
